WAKE UP AND GET WATTS BACK

Since the Watts riot of 1965, Watts has been used as an experimental area for government funded programs where no one is held accountable. They are the ones that are using this gang situation to keep this community ignorant, frustrated and divided, this way they can use the funds coming into Watts for their own agenda.

How many funded programs or city projects for Watts has shown progress, NONE, Because it’s just on paper and never implemented, everyone’s afraid to say anything against each other, so nobody is getting anything done for the community.

Just think, what have you seen done to improve the quality of life in Watts? Look at the surrounding communities of Compton, Lynwood, South Gate, Inglewood and South LA are they suffering for economic development and jobs like we are? NO.

What’s keeping this community in this shape are our elected officials and the fact that the residents are so busy fighting over crumbs, the officials have taken the whole cake and ran with it.

What have the non profits done to improve quality of life with the millions that has been allocated to Watts, job training? programs for the youth?, seniors and children?, Nothing. The residents that are sent to work with the community are afraid of losing their jobs (they are all black and brown) if they try to help this community to empower itself, so they join the clique of people that has pimped this community for years, have you thought about checking their assets because the community sure didn’t get the benefits.

Think the money spent for the cameras in the housing developments is for your safety? The cameras were placed to help clean out the "undesirables" so the developments can eventually come down. My advice to you? Prepare. AND, What of the promises made to residents, that in addition to cameras. A wifi network would be installed giving residents, free internet access. The cameras are there. BUT, Four years later, They are still without the wifi network.

Why is it that Watts has so much trash and unkept
streets, trash along the railroad tracks and trees dying,
have you taken a look at 103rd street from Alameda to Central Ave. Our main street that our neighbors and visitors travel everyday; it is a disgrace to the whole community. It shows that we do not have any pride in our self to demand our elected officials and city department to clean it up, this is why it is so easy for them to use Watts, So how can you tell the youth and children anything when they see that the adults lack enough pride to demand changes themselves.

Fortunately Charlotte Brimmer, executive officer of the CRA. Has been bringing improvement projects to Watts. Remodeling our community and shopping center.

How many more generations will we have to lose before you decide to take a stand and get something for this community. The pimping of this community is coming to a end and if you think your elected officials are going to take the blame for the fraud and corruption when the investigation come to Watts, they are going hang you out to dry.

My name is Henry Broomfield, I am a resident of the historical city of Watts. As, well as a chair on the Watts Neighborhood Council. I am for the empowerment of my community and I approve this message.

WAKE UP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
